Iran-based Radio Hausa targets African youth: director
The radio, established in 1994, plays a significant role in developing relations with and conveying the message of justice to West African people since Hausa is one of the local languages in the region, Ibrahim Aqil Abu Bakr added.
“We broadcast programs on various political, cultural, religious, and social issues as well as news and analysis two hours a day.”
According to the director, the organizers try to meet the needs of the listeners who are in contact with the radio through letters and e-mails.
Since the current year has been designated by the UNESCO as ‘Year of Rumi’, some programs have been dedicated to him to introduce the Iranian poet and mystic to African nations, he explained.
He referred to the teaching of Persian language as another program designed to respond the listeners’ desires.
